Now that the park has been fenced for the safety of our dogs and water fountains have been provided, plans are being made for further improvements. We want our dog park to be a place everyone in Key West will be proud of - dog owners and non-dog owners alike!
Current plans include the addition of brick pavers at the entrance to the park, around the water fountains, and under the pavilions where the benches are located. In addition, we would like to add dog park playground equipment. This is similar to agility equipment but built sturdier for use by the general public.
Plans for additional landscaping were already underway when Hurricane Wilma arrived in October 2005. The damage caused by that storm now makes that need even greater.
Eventually, we would like to have a memorial placed in a quiet section of the park where the memory of pets no longer with us can be honored.
